About

A Professional, Established Company

Willpower was established in 1990 and became a limited company in 1994 and now have over 14,000 satisfied clients managed from our offices in Droitwich and Halesowen. Our service in Cyprus has been running since 2010 and is managed from an office in Bexhill on Sea. You can (and should) check out our company at Companies House here.

As early entrants into the specialist Willwriting, we have always been at the forefront of innovation in the advice and the services that our advisors provide and the way that they are delivered.

All of our advisers are members of the Institute of Professional Willwriters, the only organisation representing our sector which requires all of its members to sit and pass an entrance examination to prove their competence.

We were one of the first companies in the country to become compliant with IPW Code of Practice which gives all of our clients the assurance that they will be dealt with professionally, ethically and competently. The Code of Practice was approved by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) under the Consumer Codes Approval Scheme in April 2010. This means that the processes and procedures that Willpower works to are in accordance with OFT requirements. You can (and should) check out our credentials on the OFT website here.

If you would like a free copy of the IPW Code of Practice, please contact us.

Over the years we have developed our systems to enable our advisors to deliver a wide range of legal services conveniently and cost effectively without cutting corners.

Face to face meetings

We believe that the services we provide and the advice that we give can only be delivered by meeting our clients and taking time to carefully understand their needs, hopes and aims. See here for information on the advice that we provide FREE OF CHARGE as part of our processes when draftinga Will or other document. Many of our clients end up with Wills that are different to the ones that they thought they needed when they first approached us, simply because of the advice and help that we are able to provide when we meet them. When making a Will you need to get it right, and get it right first time, because if you get it wrong, you can't come back and have another go. You'll obviouslsy get none of this advice if you are looking for someone on the internet to knock together a Will on the cheap.

Home visits

We find that our clients are more comfortable in familiar surroundings with any documents which may need to be referred to at hand. And if our clients don’t need to come to us, they don’t need to travel into town, battling with the traffic and the hassle of finding a car parking space. But we are happy to meet our clients by appointment at our offices in Droitwich or Halesowen if they prefer.

Evening and weekend meetings

We know that it is difficult for many people to get time off work, so we will meet our clients in an evening or at a weekend if it is more convenient for them.

Two meetings

We have one meeting to take instructions from our clients and give advice. We then have a second meeting to return documents to ensure that our clients understand them and that they sign them and that they sign them correctly. Unlike many of our competitors, we don’t post documents back to our clients and leave them to work out what they say and how they should be signed. After-all, if a Will isn't signed or if it isn't signed correctly, then it's invalid, so the second appointment is just as important as the first.

Plain English documents

We think it’s important that our clients understand what they have paid for, and also that the beneficiaries and executors also understand it, so that when the time comes, they don't need to employ expensive legal help to explain what the Will means. So all of our documents are written in plain English.

Fixed prices

We believe that it’s important that our clients know how much our services are going to cost, so we always quote our fees in advance, which are fixed with no nasty surprises such as VAT or supplements for complex documents. And unlike many of our competitors, we have nothing to hide in our charges and so they we're happy to put them all on our website here. We might not be the cheapest, but we have been established for more than 20 years, so we know how much we need to charge to do a good job that our clients are happy with and we know how much we need to charge to ensure that we are around to provide help and service to our clients and also their beneficiaries in years to come. So we don't offer cheap Wills and risk being out of business within a year and we don't offer offer cheap Wills and then sit in our client's homes for hours on end selling additional products and services so that we can make a profit.

Payment guarantee

We don’t ask for any payment until our clients are happy with the work that we have done for them. So unlike many of our competitors we won't hold our clients to ransom over a Will that they don't like or don't understand simply because they have paid for it before they have seen it.
